Do I have to do 16 hours CPD?
No! It is no longer mandatory to do 16 hours CPD. However In November 2016 the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) changed the regulations to move from what was a mandatory 16 hours to a a mandatory scheme that all solicitors that want to renew their practicing certificate must comply with as of 01/11/16. I am new to my firm and don't have access to my courses
Your firm may have purchased or renewed their firm package with Datalaw but when you log into your account you can't access the courses or self assessment. Your account needs to be associated with your new firm's account so that the administrator can assign courses to your account. I have received a "Hold on you're too fast" message when viewing my webinar
The system can recognise if a lecture is being completed too quickly. This may happen if the webinar is fast forwarded and checked off as complete too quickly or its supporting materials. You will receive the below message. We advise that the webinars and notes are viewed in full to avoid an incorrect number of minutes being tracked on your CPD tracker and Training Plan.
Can I find details of the course/package that I have purchased with you ?

Yes of course ! You can view your course as many times as you wish within the 12 month period from when you purchased it. You can rewind a webinar and fast forward it to a particular part if you have missed something by using the play bar underneath the webinar. SRA's Continuing Competence New Approach
In light of the SRA's new approach to training do I still need to do CPD? On 1st April 2015 the SRA announced their new approach to CPD which focuses on solicitors assessing and maintaining their competence. Solicitors now have two options; follow existing CPD requirements (mandatory 16 hours) or transfer to the new competence based scheme. Regardless of which option you choose, the SRA have emphasised that solicitors will need to review their training needs on a regular basis
